How do I remove GPS data from a photo?+
Drop the photo in, check what it is carrying, and download a cleaned copy. The GPS and other metadata are removed in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?+
No. Metadata is a separate block from the pixels, so removing it re-encodes nothing. The file just gets slightly smaller.
Do I need to strip photos before posting to Instagram?+
Not for GPS: Instagram, Facebook, X, WhatsApp and Discord already remove it on upload. The real risk is direct sharing: email attachments, AirDrop, cloud links and forums all keep metadata intact.
Can I keep my copyright and remove only the location?+
Yes. Tick "Keep copyright & author" and the attribution stays while the location, camera serial and timestamps go.
Can removed metadata be recovered?+
Not from the cleaned copy. Keep your original if you want the data back.
