How do I find the location a photo was taken?+
Drop it in. If location services were on when the shutter fired, the camera wrote GPS coordinates into the file's EXIF, and we read them out and map them. Nothing is uploaded, because the file is read in your browser.
Why does it say my photo has no location?+
Because it doesn't. Instagram, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Discord and TikTok all strip GPS on upload, screenshots never had it, and many exports drop it. If a photo came off social media, the location is almost certainly gone, and no tool can read coordinates that aren't there.
Can you find the location from the picture itself?+
No. Some tools use AI to guess a place from what's in frame: decent on landmarks, unreliable on an ordinary street, and they need your photo uploaded to a model to do it. We only read the data already in the file. When there's no data, we say so.
Is it safe to check a photo's location online?+
Only if the photo doesn't leave your device. Most location finders upload it, handing a stranger's server the image, its coordinates and its timestamp, which is exactly what you were trying to protect. Ours reads locally: open DevTools → Network and watch, or go offline and see it still work.
How accurate is the location?+
Typically 5 to 15 metres for a phone outdoors; worse indoors or between tall buildings, where it falls back to Wi-Fi positioning. Drone and survey gear is far tighter.
Does a geotag prove where a photo was taken?+
No. EXIF is editable. Writing arbitrary coordinates into a file takes seconds. Treat a geotag as a record, not evidence.
