Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us. Written to be read, and accurate to what the product actually does.
These terms are accurate about how the product behaves, but the company details below are unset and they have not been reviewed by a lawyer. They must not be relied on, and payments must not be enabled, until both are done.
Who we are
Geotagging Image is operated by [legal entity: not set], registered at [registered address: not set]. You can reach us at [email protected].
What the service does
We provide browser-based tools that read, write and remove the metadata inside image files: geotagging, viewing EXIF/IPTC/XMP, and stripping metadata. For the supported formats (JPG, PNG, WebP and TIFF), all of this runs on your own device. Your image is not transmitted to us, and we hold no copy of it.
Your files stay yours
You keep all rights to every image you process. We claim no licence over your files, because we never receive them. We do not use your images to train anything, and we could not if we wanted to.
What you agree not to do
- Use the service to process images you have no right to process.
- Use it to falsify a record you intend someone to rely on. Metadata is editable by design (that is what a geotagger is), but presenting edited metadata as proof of where or when a photo was taken may be fraud, and is your responsibility, not ours.
- Attempt to break, overload, or circumvent the limits on the service.
- Resell or rebrand the service as your own.
Free and paid plans
The free tier has a daily limit and needs no account. Paid plans remove that limit. We may change the free limit; if we reduce what a paid plan includes during a period you have already paid for, you can cancel and we will refund the unused part.
Payments and refunds
Payments are processed by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record. Your contract for the purchase is with Paddle, and their terms apply to the transaction itself. We never see or store your card details. Paddle handles sales tax and VAT where it applies.
Subscriptions renew until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. One-time credit packs are not subscriptions and do not renew.
If the service does not do what this page says it does, contact us and we will refund you. We would rather give the money back than argue about it.
Accuracy, and what metadata is not
Coordinates written by this tool are written to the precision described on the site. But a geotag is a record, not evidence: EXIF is editable by anyone with a free tool, and nothing about it is tamper-evident. Do not rely on embedded metadata (ours or anyone's) as proof for insurance, legal or forensic purposes without something else supporting it.
No warranty
The service is provided as-is. We have tested it, and we believe it writes valid metadata and never uploads your files. You can verify the second part yourself in your browser's network tab. But we cannot promise it is free of defects or that it will suit your purpose. Keep your originals. Always.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited, including your statutory rights as a consumer, which these terms do not affect.
Ending it
You can stop using the service at any time; there is nothing to close, since the free tier has no account. We may suspend access if the service is being abused in a way that harms it for other people.
Changes
If we change these terms materially we will change the effective date at the top and, for paid users, tell you before the change applies to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [jurisdiction: not set], and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any protection you have under the law of the country you live in.
