Remove PDF metadata: for real, not hidden

See every field a PDF carries about you (title, author, creator, dates, and the XMP packet) and remove it properly. Most tools that 'remove' PDF metadata only append a change, leaving the old data recoverable. This one fully rewrites the file, so it's genuinely gone.

True removal

The PDF is rewritten, collapsing any earlier revision, so metadata a lesser tool left behind is dropped.

Both channels

The Info dictionary and the XMP packet are cleared, since a PDF hides metadata in both.

Questions

How do I remove metadata from a PDF?+

Drop the PDF in to see its metadata, then remove it. The file is fully rewritten in your browser, so the metadata is genuinely gone rather than hidden, and nothing is uploaded.

Do other tools really remove it?+

Often not. Many append a change that hides metadata while leaving the original recoverable in an earlier revision. A true removal requires rewriting the file, which is what this does.

What about the XMP data?+

It's removed too. A PDF stores metadata in both an Info dictionary and an XMP packet; clearing one leaves the other, so we clear both.
